In reply to <a href="https://www.blogsavvypanda.com/how-to-choose-a-profitable-blog-niche/comment-page-1/#comment-8648">Clark</a>.

@Clark - That's so awesome to hear you're planning to start a personal finance blog!

I'm also glad you found the products and information helpful. :)

If I knew about Google SEO earlier and what I know now about blogging now, I probably would have taken a different strategy with my personal finance blog. But there are no regrets since everyone's experience and strategies are different.
I do recommend you look into ways to do keyword research with Google especially if you plan to write about financial topics that are more serious and less informal - that could include anything like investing, refinancing, or paying off debt.
You can also use Pinterest to boost your traffic for other topics that are more "fun" and Pinterest-friendly - those could include DIY, frugal living, zero waste, cheap recipes, etc. Anything along those lines. Again, it depends on which niche you want to go into for your personal finance blog.
I literally wrote everything I do on Pinterest to keep my blog alive and earning a full-time income in The Golden Compass To Pinterest Traffic: https://www.finsavvypanda.com/the-golden-compass-to-pinterest-traffic/
As for the writing part, you can start off with one post per week until you get the hang of it. Once you get used to writing (you will improve), I recommend bumping that to two posts per week. You will also notice that as you get familiar with the process of blogging, you'll want to come up with your own systems to make it more efficient and "passive".
By the way, if you want to write faster with the help of AI tools, you can look into resources like ChatGPT or Jasper. I have used them, and still using them occasionally, to help me draft my blog posts across all my websites. Just be careful because they can make your posts sound too generic, which can lack substance. It's all about learning HOW TO use those AI tools to help you produce faster (and of course high quality content if you use it the right way). Lastly, make sure you include your own voice and personal experience when you use these tools to stand out from the competition.
I usually ignore comments about "being too saturated" or "too competitive". If I listened to that advice, I would have never started and I wouldn't be here.
I hope this motivates and helps you get started!
Let me know how it goes. I am so excited to see you start your blog!

Hi Ling! I'm thinking about starting a blog in the personal finance space just like you. You are such an inspiration. I've purchased a few of products and love how much information you're sharing. I feel like the personal finance space may be too saturated and get worried that Pinterest is not the right place to share that content. What do you think? Also, I can only write one post per week based on having a family. Do you think it's better to push out a bunch of blog posts first and then switch to promoting them on Pinterest? OR blog post and then promote (then repeat every week)? Thank you!

@Debra - So glad you read through about niche selection. I definitely recommend doing keyword research because you can collect those search terms and see what posts you can write about that is related to your niche. This is always a great place to start. I also go in-depth about keyword research and writing for your particular audience in my guide, The Golden Compass To Pinterest Traffic.

I often see bloggers neglect this strategy. And as a result, they don't see the traffic or pageviews that they hope for (because they realize later that they're writing about things that no one searches for or cares about).

I really look forward to seeing you shine through your blog with your passion! :)

Ohhhh - I have no idea if my blog has a chance! Never investigated my niche. But maybe I should. I really want to increase traffic and use Pinterest a lot but so far I haven't got any traffic from Pinterest.

I just felt my message about trafficking was so important that I had to do something and then I combined it with a Survival shop.

But one thing I got is Passion! I hope I will create some awareness and maybe this in turn will create a niche...

But thanks a lot for the article. There are a number of things I should check up on :-)

In reply to <a href="https://www.blogsavvypanda.com/how-to-choose-a-profitable-blog-niche/comment-page-1/#comment-7915">Alexandra</a>.

@Alexandra - I never ever recommend going the "free" route if you are serious about making money with your blog. I am not a fan of the "free" blogs for many reasons. Them being the following:
- no ownership of your blog (you don't own your blog with the free ones and they can take it down at any time without notice)
- you won't appear professional, which means companies may not want to work with you
- people can tell your blog is "free" because your website address will look something like "www.domainname.blogspot.com" instead of "www.domainname.com"

For example, you can see that my domain name here is "www.blogsavvypanda.com" instead of "www.blogsavvypanda.blogspot.com". Doesn't the former look so much cleaner and easier to remember?

Since starting a self-hosted blog (aka a blog that you actually own) is really cheap and affordable, I recommend the investment. It's definitely not something worth penny-pinching over. This is the very basics of starting a profitable blog. I also wrote a post about how much it really costs to start a blog for beginners here:

https://www.blogsavvypanda.com/how-much-does-it-cost-to-start-a-blog/

If you want to succeed with your investment, then you will need to make sure you put the necessary time and effort into building and growing your blog. Going the "free" route doesn't work. I am also a firm believer in spending money in order to make money (and course course, putting in the work). In other words, investments are almost always required if you want to see a positive return in any project or business idea.

Hope this advice helps. I look forward to seeing you save enough funds to start your blog! I'd love to see you gain traction on your passion project!

In reply to <a href="https://www.blogsavvypanda.com/how-to-choose-a-profitable-blog-niche/comment-page-1/#comment-7822">Kathrin</a>.

@Kathrin - wow, it sounds like you have a lot going on for you. I am feeling really motivated for you to start your blog about manifestation, inner healing, and balancing life - I am a huge fan of that! I actually have a reader and friend who started a blog and YT chanel on it, and he's really happy with his progress. He's starting to see results from this passion project and has earned his first few thousand dollars, so that's really cool and amazing!

I recommend focusing on only one project at the beginning (e.g. blog or YT) and only 1-2 traffic sources/and/or social media (e.g. Pinterest, Google, TikTok, etc.). I only focus on blogging and use Pinterest and Google to gain traffic. If you focus on too many, you will stretch yourself too thin, which will yield no result, especially at the beginning when you are just learning.

And yes, of course, it's still possible to make money blogging - I am still earning a full-time income with it. I also am building a new one on the side as a passion project to see where that will go - so far, it has been coming along nicely with traffic increase. Currently, it's monetized with ads but will be slowly implementing different strategies.

When I first started FinSavvy Panda, there was no launch date. I published everything on the go, so as soon as I had 1 article written, I published it. I did the same for my other websites and I recommend doing that. At the beginning, if you spend time writing 2 articles a week, you'll have 25 posts ready by 3rd month. You could even hardcore it and write 3 a week at the beginning to get the ball rolling. Once you have around 30 posts ready at the beginning, you can write once a week for maintenance. It all depends on your schedule, willingness, and how much you really want this!

When I was still working a FT job while creating FinSavvy Panda blog as a hobby, I spent anywhere from 15 to 30 hours a week (at that time, I really wanted to monetize it and already thought about quitting my job). And the great thing is it didn't feel like work because I enjoyed it a lot.

Again, if you focus all your time on blog content creation (e.g. without YT, TikTok or other social media distractions), then you'll get a lot done with your blog!

Let me know your next steps. I'd love to see you start your blog about manifestation and a positive mindset. I am excited to see it progress and can't wait to see you build it into success.

I hope this advice helps!

Thank you for your help.

I changed my niche a little bit. I do not like the current trend of manifesting etc as it is on tik tok. I will write about it but I want it to be different. I want to cover real knowledge about these things or show my readers where they can educate themselves.

I also changed the niche to slow living, how to have less stress in the daily life, building your own day-to-day life which you will love and not need a vacation from. Tips for more energy and how to feel balanced. That’s what I want.

The main reason is that I want to help people who feel like me (often tired, sleeps too much, and sometimes anxious). I want to really help even if it means it won’t grow so fast. I don’t want to use these trendy words because they are so overused.

But I struggle to find time to write in my current day-to-day life. After work, I am so uncreative so I have to try it in the morning. Before my 9-5.

Do you think it is still possible to make money with a blog, I mean to start? And how soon was your website launched and had +25 articles online? I feel like I am so slow with it.

Thank you very much for everything. I like that I have this project. It keeps me creative. I hope one day I can live off it.

I consider posting content on YouTube or TikTok with the same name as my blog and making some content that I talk about also on my blog. Do you think this is a project too big while working 30 hours?

How did you schedule your time in the beginning?

Thank you, idk if it’s too long to read for you. But have a nice week! I am happy for you.
