I am writing this post today because I often get readers asking me how I am possibly getting the amount of traffic I get, and earning a healthy income with my small blog, Finsavvy Panda, even when I’m not publishing new blog posts on a regular basis.
There seems to be a misconception about posting daily or frequently in order to drive traffic and make money with a blog.
So, I am here to answer these questions for you.
How Often Should I Post On My Blog?
So, you are so eager to start your blog, but you are wondering “how often should I post on my blog at the beginning?”
This is a great question and I, myself, wondered the same thing when I was a beginner like you.
I know you are also wondering “how often should I blog to make money?”
Before I give you a thorough answer to how many times you should post on a blog, and still be able to generate an income, I want to say that it all depends.
Everyone is different and there is no right or wrong answer to how often you should publish new content on your website.
By the way, if you are a beginner and unsure of the difference between a “blog post” and a “page” then I recommend you check out this article, What Is A Blog And How Does It Work? to understand the basics first.

How Many Blog Posts Per Week?
A lot of people will often ask “how many blog posts you should publish per week?”
Given the way this question is framed, you might be thinking that bloggers or content creators need to always create new content on a weekly basis.
The generic answer is 2-4 times a week, but I don’t personally follow this rule. Some even tell you that you should create a new blog post every day!
Now, to be honest with you, if I was told that I am required to write content 2-4 times a week on a consistent basis, I wouldn’t have started my blog!
Personally, for me, that is too overwhelming given that I am not the best writer and the fact that I am very slow at creating a blog post!
Within my first year of blogging, I realized that it’s not about “how many blog posts you should create per week.” This is especially true if you are wondering “how often should I blog to make money with my website?”
Instead, follow this advice in the next two sections…
How often should I post on my blog at the beginning when first starting out
How often you post depends on your comfort level.
Like I mentioned earlier, since writing is not my expertise, and the fact that I’m slow at it, I published only once a week at the very beginning.
I remember even “launching” my site live with just ONE blog post published at that time. And I did not follow an exact schedule right off the bat.
Instead, I posted whenever I had the time or felt like I wanted to start ramping up on the collection of blog posts. When you average that out into several months that my blog was launched and live, I was generating new content only once a week.
For example, when you make time on the weekend, you can focus and write 4 blog posts within the span of two days (Saturday and Sunday), and publish it all at once for the entire month.
Alternatively, you can write one blog post each day for 4 days and call that your month’s collection of content.
You can even write once a week and follow that if it’s something that fits your schedule. The key is finding what works best for you.
Of course, the more you can post at the beginning, the better. Think of it as putting the upfront effort to reap the benefits of not having to write as often once you build your collection of evergreen and timeless blog posts.
If you are a quick writer and writing is your expertise, then that’s great (I envy you – haha)! You can go nuts and publish as many as once a day!
How Often Should I Blog to Make Money?
The question isn’t about “how often should I blog or post on my website to start earning?”
The question should be “how often should I promote and share my blog posts?”
This is where most beginners get confused and think that the only way to make money blogging is that they should be publishing a blog post every day.
This isn’t true at all. You don’t get paid just because you are writing blog posts every day. To understand how this works, you should read about exactly how bloggers get paid and make money blogging here.
Once you are ready to show your readers your amazing and helpful content, you can use social media channels like Twitter, Facebook, IG, LinkedIn, etc. to share your blog posts online.
You can also learn how to get found on searches like Google and Pinterest to get traffic back to your blog. And YES, this is all FREE traffic. NOT paid!
The key to earning an income with your blog is sharing and promoting your content (again, not how often you are creating a new blog post)!
Once you understand how to drive traffic back to your blog, and you are getting a good amount of traffic back to your blog, you can apply for display advertising on your blog. This is one of the easiest ways a beginner like you can start earning an income with your blog.
Now, I’m not saying it’s “easy” to make money as a beginner, but applying for display advertising on your blog is the most common strategy that beginners use to monetize their blogs because it is relatively easier than other earning methods like affiliate marketing, working with sponsors, or selling products on your website.
