Hi Terri - when you’re new blogger, you don’t have to think too much about website speed. This comes afterwards once you get the hang of writing and producing content. It’s not going to make or break your blog at the beginning. Usually the more premium web hosting plans will help with speed but the cost doesn’t justify for beginners (it’s like $35 bucks a month vs a few bucks. They even have ones for $100 a month but not necessary).

Honestly, I’ve tried a few of the more affordable plans for my other websites (few bucks a month) and bluehost was the best one because my websites were never down with them compared to the other hosting companies. I’ve tried a different one to test and the sites were always down, and not to mention, speed had issues too and that’s why I kept going back to bluehost whenever I create a new blog.

Instead, focus on learning traffic strategies with both Pinterest and Google SEO. That’s what’s important. There are also a few things you can do to improve your speed and I mention them in my Treasure Map To Blogging Success in 30 Days ebook which you purchased. It’s in the image and plug-in sections so feel free to review that part! :)

Overall speed is important but it’s not something I’d dwell on or worry about until you actually start getting traffic and earning an income on the blog. I was still earning a FT income when i was a beginner with the most basic bluehost plan using AdSense and then switched to Mediavine once I got more traffic. For two of my sites with heavier traffic, I’ve been paying $35-$40 hosting per month for each blog compared to the smaller ones at $3-$5 per month. Hope this info helps.

Hi Ling!
It seems to me that Google Adsense is a major catch 22. It slows Wordpress to a near crawl. My website was loading at 7-9 seconds with Google Adsense. Of course, the slow loading kicks you down in Google rankings. So, I opted for better speed and Google rankings over the $0.11 I made in three months. Perhaps, you have thoughts on the importance of website speed, SEO, and Google rankings when trying to get off the ground and seen.
Thanks for the insights!

Hi Panida

It’s normal to feel stuck. I have those moments quite often.

To fix the problem, I only write when I’m really feeling for it. And when I write, I keep it conversational. I don’t actually try to sound formal or perfect. You can always fix your blog posts later and polish them. Trust me, my first blog posts were not perfect and I thought they weren’t good enough. Good thing is I can still fix them.

The best thing you can do is let go of whatever it is that you feel is blocking you and just publish it. Even if it’s not what you expected, just publish it and move on. I promise it’s going to improve once you write more and that is what matters - improving and getting better at it. That can only happen when you take the first small step. :)

Have you read this article to get an idea of how to draft your first blog post?

How do I overcome perfectionism or procrastination? I'll write a blog post but never post it because I don't think my writing is good enough. How can I overcome this? I end up not getting anything out.
